Construction background required, prefer paving or heavy/highway construction experience. Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.

 Regional travel may be required.

Open Foreman position responsible for concrete set-up crews in construction of high quality concrete pavements on project(s) in IHC’s Midwest Division which operates in Owosso, MI.  The Prep Foreman will be responsible for achieving optimum utilization of the equipment, material and labor, thus, maximizing production and minimizing costs in the area of assigned responsibility.  Requires extensive knowledge of concrete airfield paving set-up means and methods.  Primarily responsible for the timely and proper elevation, alignment, and stabilizing of concrete forms and dowel baskets, drill & grout operations, wire mesh installation and string line. This position will be responsible for in-depth knowledge of the plans, specifications, site conditions and requirements for the work which is assigned to you.  With your immediate supervisor, jointly develop an understanding of the dollars and units in the bid to build the work.   All of this is to be accomplished in conjunction with practicing ethical business transactions, adhering to the corporate policies, values and beliefs while pursuing the company’s short and long range goals. Must be able to follow directions of supervisors on daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or job site.  The Prep Foreman is also responsible for the training and performance of all assigned subordinates on the associated crews.

Qualifications

Minimum 1-2 years of relevant, progressively responsible supervisory experience in construction of concrete pavements on highway and airfield project(s).

Possesses excellent organizational/coordination skills

Responsible for the final concrete pavement quality.  Know or train how to properly finish concrete.  Thoroughly understand all requirements of the project you are paving – edge slump, vertical face, pavement thickness, offset, profile offset, profilograph, surface grout depth, consolidation and surface.
